Is Democracy Backsliding?

Image
Democratic Backsliding in India Meaning of Democratic Backsliding Democratic backsliding means the slow weakening of democracy. It does not happen through military coups. It happens when elected governments reduce freedoms, weaken institutions, and centralize power. Elections continue, but democratic quality declines. Why India Matters as a Case India is the world’s largest democracy with a strong Constitution. Yet, in recent years, concerns have grown about: -Executive dominance -Reduced space for dissent -Pressure on institutions This makes India an important case to study democratic erosion within a constitutional system. Weakening of Civil Liberties Increasing restrictions on protests and public gatherings. Use of laws against activists, students, and critics. Internet shutdowns during sensitive political moments.   Impact : Citizens feel less free to express disagreement. Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and NRC Protests (2019–20) CAA led to nationwide protests dema...

Why Republic Day Is Worth Celebrating — And Where India Stands Today

Image
Why Republic Day Is Worth Celebrating — And Where India Stands Today Republic Day is not just a holiday or a parade on television. It marks the day India gave itself a Constitution in 1950 — a promise of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity to every citizen. It reminds us that real power lies not in rulers, but in the people. We celebrate Republic Day because it represents struggle, sacrifice, and hope. Our freedom fighters didn’t fight only for independence; they fought for dignity, rights, and democracy. The Constitution became the voice of the poor, the marginalized, and the ordinary citizen. It tells us that no one is above the law. But celebration must also come with reflection. Today, India stands at a crossroads. We have made progress in infrastructure, technology, and global presence. Yet, challenges remain deep. Unemployment worries the youth. Inequality is rising. Institutions face pressure. Dissent is often misunderstood. Social harmony feels fragile at tim...

Why Indian Civic sense always questioned?

Image
Why Is Indian Civic Sense Always Questioned? Civic sense means basic responsibility towards society—like following rules, keeping public places clean, respecting queues, traffic laws, and other people’s space. In India, civic sense is often questioned because many of us treat public property as “nobody’s property. We easily blame the government, but forget our own role. Spitting on roads, throwing garbage anywhere, jumping signals, breaking lines, or staying silent when something wrong happens—these small acts slowly damage our collective culture. One major reason is mindset. From childhood, we are rarely taught that streets, buses, parks, and offices belong to all of us. Education focuses on marks, not manners. Also, people think, “One person won’t make a difference,” so everyone keeps repeating the same mistakes. Another reason is lack of accountability. When rules are not strictly followed or enforced, people stop taking them seriously. But change doesn’t start from poli...

We make the day Special

Image
Not a Single Day Is Special — It Is You Who Makes It Special From my perspective, no day is born special. Monday or Sunday, birthday or ordinary date on the calendar—every day arrives the same way. What changes its meaning is us . It is our thoughts, our efforts, our attitude, and the way we choose to live that give a day its value. A day becomes special when I decide not to give up, when I choose patience over anger, hope over fear, and effort over excuses. Even the most difficult days teach lessons, build strength, and shape character. Some days give happiness, some give pain—but both add meaning to life. Waiting for a “special day” is a mistake. Life does not pause for celebrations or perfect moments. The real power lies in making today count—by learning something new, helping someone, staying honest with myself, or simply moving one step forward. In the end, days do not define us. We define our days. Not a single day is special— it is you who makes it special .

Grateful beyond words

Grateful Beyond Words: A Journey from Day One to What Lies Ahead From the very first day of my existence to this present moment, one truth stands tall in my life—I have always received more than I ever asked for . Not because my journey has been easy, but because it has been meaningful . And at the core of that meaning lies gratitude . Gratitude, for me, is not a seasonal emotion or a reaction to success. It is a state of awareness —an understanding that even pain carries purpose, and even delay carries direction. Gratitude in Struggle I was not born into abundance. Resources were limited, opportunities uncertain, and the road ahead often unclear. There were moments when life tested patience, resilience, and faith simultaneously. I asked for strength—and life gave me character . I asked for answers—and life gave me questions that shaped my thinking . Looking back, I realize that what I once called hardship was actually preparation . Every rejection sharpened my focus. ...
